English Supervisor (GCSE & A-Level) – Secondary

About the Role

Due to continued growth, Prime Tuition is recruiting 2–3 experienced English Supervisors to lead and oversee the delivery of KS1 to A-Level English Language & Literature across our Brixton and Acton campuses.

This is a senior academic leadership role, ideal for an experienced secondary English teacher with strong subject expertise, proven classroom results, and the confidence to supervise staff and engage professionally with parents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the English department (KS1 to A-Level)
  • Ensure consistently high standards of teaching, assessment, and planning
  • Mentor, support, and monitor English teachers and tutors
  • Oversee schemes of work, marking quality, and exam preparation
  • Conduct academic reviews and communicate progress to parents
  • Support staff development, lesson observations, and quality assurance
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and organisational policies

Essential Requirements (Mandatory)

Applicants must meet all of the following:

  • ✔ Degree in English
  • ✔ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Secondary
  • ✔ Minimum 2 years’ experience teaching or tutoring GCSE and/or A-Level English Language & Literature
  • ✔ Strong knowledge of UK exam boards
  • ✔ Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills

Priority / Desirable Experience

Priority will be given to candidates with:

  • Experience as Head of English, English Supervisor or similar leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing or mentoring teachers
  • Strong experience dealing with parents, progress meetings, and academic reviews
  • A track record of improving attainment and maintaining academic standards

Experience

  • A degree in English is preferred, or a minimum of A-levels is acceptable.
